| Greg greg
up in eastern North Carolina listening to various kinds of music at his
mother's knee. He joined the high school band in the third grade and
played clarinet in the marching and concert bands for 6 years. During
that time, he saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and decided to set the clarinet
aside for the guitar. Greg played guitar in various bands in junior high and high school, and eventually gravitated to the bass guitar given his strong rhythmic sense and the need for a bassist. After high school, Greg played the club circuit for several years in various blues and rock bands in the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions. He then set music aside for some number of years, pursuing degrees in philosophy and computer science. Eventually, Greg rediscovered music and for the past 15 years he has played in a broad variety of settings from busking in Harvard Square, to the alternate poetry band Firemask, to Emily Dickinson Rock, to the topical group In the Public Interest. Most currently, Greg is a member of the Ken Selcer Trio. You can also catch Greg this summer at the Salem Maritime Festival, Salem, MA, where he will be sitting in with the Cajun band The Squeezebox Stompers. |
